WorldSpy Free Internet Access
Unfortunately a trip to the WorldSpy.com website today will bring up a "This Domain is for Sale" sign. When WorldSpy closed their doors in July of 2000, its' existing 300,000 customers were referred to Juno
WorldSpy users making the move to Juno will be able to keep their WorldSpy.com e-mail addresses. In return WorldSpy will receive Juno common stock for customers that remain with Juno after a three month trial period.
Besides Freewwweb.com, World Spy was another highly rated Nationwide Free ISP that didn't have an floating advertising bar. With most free Internet access providers, you have a floating advertising banner on your screen while you are online. Some of them make you click on an advertisement periodically or they disconnect you.
WorldSpy.com (www.worldspy.com) was actually started in 1997 as a shopping portal that later offered free Internet access to their customers.
In 1999 Chief Executive Officer Alan Clingman decided to offer free Internet access and free email to anyone who signed up at the WorldSpy site. You could even call 1-877-SPY-DIAL and get a CD-ROM for $4.95 Shipping and Handling. WorldSpy also touted toll-free customer support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Pretty impressive for a free ISP
Headquartered in White Plains, NY, WorldSpy provides users with nationwide, free Internet access, free e-mail, and 24-hour toll-free customer service while offering a gateway to online shopping.
When consumers log-on to the Internet via WorldSpy, they pass through a branded "gateway" page. From there, they can review and compare thousands of products, and purchase a variety of name-brand merchandise from WorldSpy or it's affiliate partners, or link to other major Internet destinations. The site also offers other value-adds such as frequent flyer miles, coupons, rebates, and the ability to personalize the shopping experience. Worldspy does not require its ISP users to make a purchase, but by making the consumer's online experience an easy and pleasurable one, WorldSpy hopes to foster a positive, lasting relationship with its users. WorldSpy.com is one of the first portfolio companies launched by iCentennial Ventures, an Internet incubator and investor.
