TiVo Inc. and Cox Communications have entered into an agreement that will see Cox on DEMAND content available for joint subscribers using TiVo Roamio and TiVo Premier DVRs.
It’s a deal between a leading innovator in the advanced television space and the third-largest US cable TV company with approximately 6 million customers. Both companies are upbeat that everything will go on as anticipated and impact positively to their separate businesses. It is the first time that such a deal is being signed by an American internet service provider.
TiVo will enjoy the integration of On DEMAND library that boasts of over 18,000 movies and shows and will be viewed on its channels and streaming apps. Consumers will be able to access, find and search for their favorite content using a single user experience while those with Advanced TV and Essential Internet or higher will have access to VOD content. TiVo’s Chief Marketing and Retail Sales Officer Ira Bahr welcomed the partnership with Cox.
“Cox’s commitment to open their VOD catalog to TiVo provides users the opportunity to utilize the simple and intuitive TiVo experience to enjoy a broad library of operator and OTT content on whatever platform they choose,” he said. “Working with Cox, we are able to provide a solution for making their vast library of On Demand content available and combine it with the best of popular streaming apps to deliver a tremendous volume of great content for viewers.”
This partnership is expected to benefit over 30 million US cable subscribers who are allied to both companies. Apart from Cox, TiVo has already partnered with many other pay TV operators to provide their customers who purchase TiVo retail products with the ability to consolidate cable, on-demand and streaming options into one easy entertainment experience. However, broadband internet connection is required to enjoy streaming content.
