For the second year in a row, Time Warner Cable served as a major sponsor of the MLK Celebration Parade in Charlotte, North Carolina where the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is celebrated.
The annual event draws thousands of people to the city center. More than 50 members of TWC’s local employee networks and their families walked together to show the company’s support for diversity and inclusion as well as commitment to giving back to the community.
A press statement from the company read in part; “At Time Warner Cable, diversity and inclusion are an integral part of our culture. We believe in an inclusive environment, where you can bring your whole self to work. This extends into our work in the communities that we live in and serve.”
TWC was pleased to be part of the journey that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. lived and promised to keep the light burning. “He believed in celebrating and promoting the worth of every human being. In his pursuit of equal rights by nonviolent means, Dr. King encouraged diverse cultures to live together in a spirit of love, understanding and service to one another,” the statement added.
“In that same spirit, Time Warner Cable employee volunteers came together to expand our community’s observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Employee volunteers, along with their family members and friends embarked on the parade route and received cheers from the spectators. Many employees remarked that it felt great to be a part of this special celebration. Even the parade announcers were thrilled to provide a shout out to one of our employees “Hey, there goes my cable guy!”
Over the years, TWC has made it a habit to give back to the community through their corporate social responsibility initiatives. Apart from the Martin Luther King Jr. Day, they take part in very many other initiatives.
