CenturyLink Qwest Merger?

In an April 1, 2011 press release, Century link announced they have completed their merger with Qwest Communications and the combined company will use the name CenturyLink, although the Qwest brand will continue to be used in former Qwest markets for the next several months.

What is CenturyLink DSL?

CenturyLink DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) is a high-speed broadband Internet service formerly offered by Qwest. DSL Internet services establish their Internet connection via ordinary copper telephone lines. DSL enables you to use your telephone and high speed Internet service simultaneously.

How Fast is CenturyLink Internet Service?

CenturyLink DSL is offered in a variety of packages to fit your budget and broadband Internet needs. However, even with CenturyLink's cheapest DSL plan, Internet connection speeds are significantly faster than a standard dial-up connection using a 56k modem.

Is CenturyLink Internet Service Available in My Area?

Do I Need Special Equipment?

You'll need a CenturyLink approved DSL modem, and a network interface card. Most newer PCs have a wireless (WiFi) network adapter pre-installed, otherwise WiFi adapters are cheap and easy to install. The DSL modem can either be leased from CenturyLink for a small monthly fee, or purchased by the customer. If you use a home network you can easily connect your CenturyLink DSL modem to a router and enable broadband Internet access for your entire home network. Note: Many newer DSL modems include wireless router functionality without the need for additional equipment.

Can I Get a CenturyLink DSL Bundle Deal?

CenturyLink offers a discounted CenturyLink bundle deal when you combine two or more of the services they offer. You can get CenturyLink's Broadband DSL Internet access bundled with DIRECTV satellite television and/or CenturyLink digital phone services and save a "bundle". This is usually your cheapest DSL Internet option, so always check with CenturyLink to see if they are offering any current DSL package deals.

Types Of High Speed Internet Access.

You have several options when choosing a high speed Internet service provider.
