Cox Communications, formerly known as Cox Cable is the third largest cable entertainment and broadband Internet services provider in the United States, boasting over 6 million customers and 22,000 employees.
How Fast is Cox Internet Service?
With cable-exclusive DOCSIS 3.1 technology, cable Internet now boasts some of the fastest download speeds available for home use. Your download speed will depend on the HSI package that you purchase from Cox. A variety of high speed Internet plans are offered to fit your budget and broadband Internet needs. Depending on your local area you may be offered the low cost 15 Mbps Essential plan, up to the much costlier blazing fast 300 Mbps Ultimate HSI plan. Even Cox's lower cost Preferred and Premier plans are very fast with speeds ranging between 50 to 100 Mbps. Many Cox high speed Internet plans include PowerBoost®, which increases your Internet download speeds when extra bandwidth is available on the network. Cox GIGABLAST is going to be rolling out soon with ungodly 1000 Mbps (1 Gigabit/s) download speeds.
Is Cox Cable Internet Service Available in My Area?
Cox HSI (High Speed Internet) access is provided via the same coaxial cable system that's used to receive cable television programming. Generally if your local area offers Cox Cable TV service, then Cox High Speed Internet is also most likely available.

Do I Need Special Equipment?
You'll need a Cox approved cable modem, and a network interface card. Most newer PCs have a NIC (Network Interface Card) pre-installed, otherwise NIC cards are cheap and easy to install. Wireless WiFi NIC cards and adapters are also available. The cable modem can either be leased from Cox for a small monthly fee, or purchased by the consumer. Top of the line DOCSIS 3.0 cable modems are priced under $90. If you have a home network you can easily connect your Cable modem to your router and enable broadband Internet access for your entire home network.
Can I Get a Cox Cable Bundle Deal?
Cox offers a discounted Cox bundle package when you combine two or more of the services they offer. You can get Cox's High Speed Internet service bundled with their digital cable television and/or digital phone services and save a "bundle". This is usually the cheapest Internet option, so always check with Cox Communications to see if they are offering any current cable package deals.
